V-MODA

q: What is V-MODA? A music, fashion, or consumer electronics company?
a: YES. V-MODA is a music lifestyle, similar to popular "athletic brands" - yet our endorsers are rockers and djs instead of professional athletes.  All our collections share the common thread of sound style and house rockin-soul.

Fittings

q: Which Size silicone fitting should I use?

a: We at v-moda think that you should try your headset with all 3 sizes before making a decision.  It has shown most people get the best sound quality and noise isolation out of the middle sized fitting.

q: Will here be different types of fittings available in the future?

a: Our engineers are always researching ways to improve our headphones.  We do not currently have other types of fittings available but keep checking www.v-moda.com for new products.

q: I’ve lost my silicone earpiece fittings.  How can purchase replacements?

a: You can now purchase extra fittings for your Modaphones.  Simply click here for a direct link to purchase replacement fittings.  Or you may visit shop.v-moda.com and search for “fittings” in the upper left search box. Or click on Categories, select Modaphones, and then select “fittings.” and search for “fittings” in the upper left search box.Or click on Categories, select , and then select “fittings.”

Vibe Cables

q: I noticed that the Vibe models come with different types of cables.  Could I get a detailed description of the cable for each model?

a: The Flashblack Chrome and Red Roxx colors are fitted with a cable that is more flexible with a more traditional casing without a tactile touch. The emphasis on this cable was the optical illusion of a clear outside with metal braided inside instead of tactile/thickness. The additional flexibility also benefits from slightly less microphonics.

The Gunmetal Black and La Mocha colors are fitted with a cable that is slightly thicker and less flexible with a tactile "silky" touch. The resulting appearance is a flat, silky black. This cable feels more "solid" and more traditional audiophile-like as the cables sensation is thicker (although the two types of cable are about the same diameter in reality). The slight rigidity of this cable can cause slightly more microphonics.

Please note: we do try to minimize microphonics inside the headphone itself regardless of cable.  Users accustomed to thicker cables may prefer the black as it feels more "solid", so we felt it was a good compromise of light yet solid and tactile. Durability threshold of each model is about the same in testing.

Both cables carry the same 12 gram weight.

Remix Sound

q: How good is the sound quality of Remix M-Class, I've bought too many earphones and I am so far unsatisfied.

a: Us too, this is why we created these modaphones.  We apologize for the unjustified bass and sound claims from other manufacturers.  We have used audio engineers, a consumer audio testing professional, and our audiophile staff to test our headphones against over 200 competitors (up to $199).  We can safely say that Remix M-Class is the best earbud-type earphone we have ever heard and seen - if you do not agree in any way please let us know right away and we will strive even harder for perfection in future products.

Wearing

q: how should I wear my earphones?

a: wearing the earphones with the cord hanging in front of your head drastically improves the earphones ability to stay in your ear.  running the cord behind your head and down the back pulls the earphones out easier during physical activities.

q: do the foam pads increase sound quality?

a: YES! the earphone pads provide deeper bass, as well as warmer mids and highs that have a better "natural" sound.  additionally, the foam pads help secure the earbuds in your ear during physical activitites.

q: does the metal on remix get cold?

a: remix includes foam pads and a rubber ring to keep the metal off your ear.  if you live in a cold climate, and do not wish to wear the foam pads we recommend holding the earbuds in your hand for a few seconds to warm the metal.

q: why is the earbud the exact size it is on remix?

a: there is a fine line between comfort and security on earbud-type earphones.  too small and the earphone falls out, too large and it is uncomfortable.  the size was determined after a thorough analysis of comfort, physical activity, and testing of over 200 shapes.  we feel the resulting product is optimal for most users, and we added a rubber ring and foam pad for added comfort as well as security.

Ear Buds for the Active Lifestyle

q: Which collection due you recommend for runners and active lifestyles?

a: The flush and secure in-ear fit of the V-MODA Vibe makes it the perfect complement to an active lifestyle. The Vibe is packaged with three sizes of ultra-soft silicone fittings (S,M,L) to provide a comfortable, quick, and secure fit along with a even-length cable optimized for sport. They are also the lightest earphone in its class.

Music Sites

q: Where should I get my music?
a: We recommend purchasing physical CDs and converting them to MP3s to ensure the highest sound quality.  iTunes is also a logical choice for Apple Ipods.  A Playsforsure (Windows Media Audio) subscription service such as Napster is the best choice if you own a supported device (check with your manufacturer).

Digital Music

q:
What codec is best for encoding my mp3 music?
a:
We recommend MP3 LAME encoding at 320kbps for best sound quality.

q:
What is the best software for the ID tags on my MP3s?
a: We recommend mp3tag, we have found the "auto-tagging" software usually does not work very well.

V-MODA Music

q: Where can I get the music playing on this site?

a: Join club V-MODA to be "in the mix" on our new releases, we are finishing three "V-MODA musique" compilation CDs that will be available soon. V-MODA is also launching an online music store soon where you can purchase legal MP3s of many of the remixes you hear on this site. For now, load up your browser and let V-MODA.com play on!

Troubleshooting

q: One ear all of a sudden sounds quieter than the other.  How can I resolve this issue?

a: Because our headphones are made with such small and precise parts, it is possible for some debris to get inside the housing and lodge the sound driver in place.  This is usually caused by something microscopic becoming trapped in the voice coil.  If occurs to your headset please do the following:

1.     Remove the silicone fitting from the earpiece.

2.     Briskly blow into the earpiece. NOTE: Do not put your mouth around the earpiece, just near it.

Try the above steps a couple times before calling support or returning your headset.  It has been found that almost all customers who think they have a defect actually just need to clean or blow out their earpieces.
